Alignments between tasks and constrains

Hello

What are your experiences with the alignment of constrains between tasks?
I find it hard to align two task in an exact same vertical or horizontal position.

When you grab the green constrain lines with your mouse, you can see a soft pink dashed line which tels you which way to go with your mouse but it is so hard to get straight lines.

Is there a auto align task feature or something else I don't know of?
How do you guys do it?

Regards,

Worf

Have you looked at the options in Format menu of BIDS?

I personally use it to align the tasks but I do pay too much attention to the arrows.

I knew I shouldn't of asked that question. I better start reading the basics before making packages.

Well Rafael..once again, thank you.

Alignment/Formatting in Page Header...

I find that if I use a bunch of textboxes in a 'tabular' layout in the page
header (or anywhere) things dont line up quite right. I need a table in info
in the page header (not from a dataset just static text and param labels) so
I figure I'll use a table in the Page Header but it tells me that I cannot
use a 'data region' in the page header.
There has to be a way to create a 'table' like layout in the page header!
Any feedback/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Are you using the align to: top, bottom, side tools?

"Body" of the Report to display static text and param value instead of
placing individual text boxes in the Page header. Make sure that you set the
property (RepeatonNewPage) for the static header in the table to repeat in
every page.

so rows of info varies and looks terrible, when I use a table (only
available in Body though) all rows have the same distance between them and
it looks very nice. MS needs to create a new 'layout' tollbox control (or
modify the existing table so it can be used as a non-data region object).

different pages (based on Globals!PageNumber) and just as Data Regions
(tables for instance) cannot be used in Page Header, 'Globals' cannot be
used in Body. So I am stuck!

alignment when value from custom code

I have a textbox in my heading that gets its value from custom code. The
horizontal alignment property is set to RIGHT and I notice that the value is
getting truncated in my report. There is another textbox that has a similar
problem. These text boxes are somewhat free standing in the report (not
within tables etc). Can anyone tell me if this is expected behavior and if
so ... how can I fix the alignment so it doesnt truncate my client name?
Thanks
the expression in the textbox in the heading is nothing unusual ...
=code.GetClient(ReportItems!tbClientName.value)Have you tried adjusting the padding of the control? Usually, when padding
is set to 0pt I'll see this behavior.

Alignment result

USE PUBS
GO
CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[GetSpace] ()
RETURNS int AS
BEGIN
RETURN (SELECT max(len(fname)) + 1 FROM employee)
END
GO
SELECT top 5 fname + SPACE([dbo].GetSpace() - LEN(fname)) + lname AS
Expr1, [dbo].GetSpace() AS Expr2, LEN(fname) AS Expr3
FROM dbo.employee
When I execute the query over the query analyzer it gave me the correct
result like that...
Expr1
Aria Cruz
Annette Roulet
Ann Devon
Anabela Domingues
Carlos Hernadez
When I execute the query over the Enterprise Manger > View > Create New View
>
SELECT top 5 fname + SPACE([dbo].GetSpace() - LEN(fname)) + lname AS

FROM dbo.employee
It gave the result on view pannel like that...
Expr1
Aria Cruz
Annette Roulet
Ann Devon
Anabela Domingues
Carlos Hernadez
I mean no alignment in the view pannel and when we call the same view over
the front end so it will gave the same unalign result.
Thanks
GetSpace user function returns the appropriate number of spaces but in
Enterprise Manager the problem is the font used.
Copy the result from Enterprise Manager in a word editor (like Microsoft
Word) and set the font to Courier New and Size 10. You will see that the
results will be aligned. The default font for results in Query Analyzer is
Courier New and Size 10.

Alignment problem with SQL Server 2000

Greeting
I have more than one language installed on my computer, and I tried to use my Enterprise Manager yesterday... What Im getting is with all the GUI im using Im having everything is Right Aligned....
Any help as to what I should change?
Thanks
This is my first post so would be great to have a qucik and handy answer :D???

Can you attach a screenshot?

What country are you in?

blindman|||Here we go
Australia...I have English,Arabic,Japanese,Chinese installed|||Strange, in the Australian version everything is supposed to be upside-down, not reversed left-right.

.
.
.
Couldn't resist. :D

I'll see if I can find anything that might have caused this, but I've never seen it before.|||Dig hard man.. Its realy sucks to work with such alignment.|||I suspect this is a result of server settings on your platform.

What regional options do you have for your Locale and your Default Language?|||You mean like this ... go to control panel ... regional settings ... General tab ... and set english to default. :D ;) :p :).|||Nope,
Checked it now.. Hope it was the case.. I have English(Australia) as the default language... Im running XP if that helps...|||Originally posted by blindman

Hi,
Guess what you are right, its because Australia, hence the up side down :D Nah kidding
It wasnt the default language that wasnt set to English it was the Language for non-unicode Programs that wasnt set to English.
Cheers mate !!

Alignment problem

After i upload the report to server , and try to convert it to excel, the alignment of report is out!!the width of columns is different with the width i set in design..=.= however, the report is pretty when i preview in reporting servcise design.

Anyone face same problem?

Hi

this is probabily because of the page size u specified for the report in the report deisigner.

right click on the empty part of the report designer go to properties and in the layout tab u will have page width and page height.

Make shure that that the left ,right margin plus the report body width is less than the page width you are going to set same is the case with height.

If you dont get your problem solved by this please let me know.

nope..i 'd set my table rows' height to 0.11in..

when i preview n export to excel, it exactly same with what i do in designer.

but when i uploaded to server n export , the report rows change to 0.15

it cause i cannot fix all rows into one page..

N i wonder in the report properties>layout , there is field "columns" and "spacing"....

what is the use?would it affect my report row's height?

--=_NextPart_000_0028_01C6A504.9BB3C560--Hi Jerry,
Thank you for your posting!
Based on my test, you could just put the textbox next to the right border
of your report. The textbox will align with the right border of the report.
Please try and let me know the result.

run than it is in the designer. And there's no way to determine, at design
time, how wide the report will, as the matrix expands dynamically based on
the criteria entered by the user at run time.
So... Is there any way to dynamically position any of the controls at run
time?
Thanks.

Thank you for the update.
You could not control the position of the control dynamically in the
report.
If the text box left border is next to the right border of the matrix, the
textbox will be position on the right of the matrix.
Hope this will be helpful.

below and aligned with the right border of the matrix...
At run time, the matrix expands to accomodate maybe 3 to 7 columns,
depending on data. But the textbox stays at the position it was at in the
designer.
I want the text box's right edge position to stay aligned with the right
edge of the matrix as it expands.
Thanks.
