all services hanging

I have a Win2000 SQL server (SQL7) that has some services
either stopping or starting. In fact you cannot manually
start or stop ANY services, also you cannot run any
installers or un-install programs from add/remove.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the cause,
additionally this also happens in Safe mode.
thanks
It sounds like this issue has to do with WINDOWS, not SQL Server. It sounds
like a security setting (group policy, or something similar). If you don't
get any solid answers here you might want to post to a windows group.

not SQL. I would say that your access rights have been
changed without you knowing about it.

All DB ops hangs in sql2000

Hi
We have a warehouse fact table with millions of rows.
When we run a report that select massive amount of data
all the queries against that table hangs.
We checked there were no outstanding transactions against that table.
Any ideas what it could be.

Are any of the queries timing out, possibly leaving locks on the server
until the connection is cleaned up by SQL Server?
What about blocking issues? Can you use a NOLOCK hint on the "massive"
queries to prevent shared locks from being taken?
